What would happen to all of the animals inside factory farms if everyone stopped eating them? Wouldn’t they all starve to death?

No. If billions of people ever stop eating billions of animals, it’s not going to happen overnight. Assuming a gradual shift to plant-based eating, factory farm employees will breed fewer and fewer animals each year until every cage is empty. Animals won’t starve to death as often suggested because they will never be born and it’s better to never be born than to live a life of unthinkable cruelty. The chickens, cows, pigs, and other animals you buy at the grocery store aren’t caught in the woods. These animals are born, bred, confined, abused, and slaughtered in captivity. Most of them never see the light of day, spread their wings, or socialize with each other. You’re not saving any animals lives by eating them.

  1. Thank ewe for this, Andrew. As “Lead Mare” of CJ Acres Animal Rescue Farm, I get this question all too often. And my response is always the same…well, after an involuntary eye roll to show my disgust. This question…along with many others involving ‘pointy teeth, dominion, and caveman ancestry…is a last-ditch effort to defend what, in their hearts, omnivores is wrong.

Thank you! I’ve had this point of view proposed numerous times.. I like your answer very much.

I’m looking forward to seeing what other comments surface on this thread particularly if any of the meat eaters come to the table. Pun intended.
